POSCO Committee
Introduction
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, is a landmark legislation to safeguard children from sexual abuse and exploitation. In strict compliance with the Act and CBSE directives, our school has formed a POCSO Committee to ensure that the campus remains a safe and protective environment where every child can learn and grow with confidence and dignity.
Objectives
- To provide a safe and secure environment for all children.
- To spread awareness among students, staff and parents about child rights and protection.
- To prevent incidents of abuse through vigilance and sensitization.
- To establish a confidential and transparent redressal mechanism.
- To provide immediate support and counselling whenever required.
Functions of the Committee
- Organizing awareness sessions, workshops, and interactive programmes on child safety.
- Conducting staff orientation on child protection duties and reporting mechanisms.
- Monitoring complaint boxes and maintaining the POCSO Complaint & Action Register.
- Reviewing school safety measures and suggesting improvements.
- Ensuring confidentiality and dignity of the child in the redressal process.
- Liaising with legal authorities, counsellors and child welfare agencies whenever necessary.

Key Child Protection Measures
- Complaint & Suggestion Boxes at accessible points, checked regularly.
- CCTV surveillance in strategic areas of the campus.
- Display of 1098 Child Helpline and names of designated teachers.
- Confidential counselling support for students.
- Student awareness programmes on Good Touch–Bad Touch, poster campaigns, role plays, and interactive talks.
- Self-defence training for girl students.
- Staff sensitization and the '5 R’s Rule' – Receive, Reassure, Respond, Record, Refer.
- Parent orientation sessions to strengthen child safety partnerships.
